SNA of Ohio 2020 Legislative Action Conference (LAC) Scholarship The SNA of Ohio Legislative Action Conference (LAC) Scholarship will provide members with the opportunity to attend SNA’s Legislative Action Conference (LAC). LAC is an opportunity to participate in the democratic process. Attendees learn about legislative issues affecting child nutrition programs and have the opportunity to meet with elected representatives on Capitol Hill. - Experience the legislative process through hands-on work sessions.
- Visit with your members of Congress and their staff on Capitol Hill.
- Hear firsthand from distinguished guest speakers and policy experts about timely child nutrition issues.
- Learn about policy priorities impacting child nutrition programs.
- Network with other advocates and SNA members from across the country.
LAC Scholarship Qualifications - Be an active SNA manager or director section member, who has been a SNA member for at least three years, as of December 1, 2019
- Have never previously attended LAC
- Be interested in child nutrition policy
- Must be able to attend the entire LAC event - from opening general session to Capitol Hill Visits (March 8-10, 2020)
- To apply, members must have the approval of their supervisor to attend LAC if selected. Please provide supervisor’s contact information on the application for verification.
The scholarship deadline is December 10, 2019 and the recipient will be notified by December 31, 2019. Scholarship Recipient of the scholarship will receive up to $2,000 in reimbursement to cover registration, airfare, hotels, and meals. All receipts must be turned into SNA of Ohio no later than 30 days after the LAC event. Each scholarship recipient must comply with his/her school district’s policy on out-of-district travel. How will the entries be judged? The nominee will be judged on the four categories below. Please note the weights of each category: - Advocacy involvement at the state or local level (worth 30% of total score)
- What do hope to gain by attending (worth 30% of total score)
- SNA Involvement (worth 20% of total score)
- Financial Need (worth 20% of total score)
